What trade rules apply in a fish and meat market?
No slaughtering in the market — meat must be sold duly stamped from the Slaughter House, and the Medical Officer of Health may check its quality at any time. No cooking in the booths or the market. Frozen products may be stored and sold. A licence from the Medical Officer of Health under the Corporation’s 2002 bye-laws for the sale of meat, fish and poultry is required within 15 days of the allotment letter. Prices may not exceed the prevailing market rate and rates for all items must be displayed.

The booths are licensed as is where is, and the terms add that even if the chill room is not licensed out, licence holders have no claim against the Corporation. Individual electricity and water connections are the licensee’s to obtain; common-area electricity, maintenance and the market’s watch and ward run through a registered agency of the booth owners.
All fees and taxes levied on the booth, with property tax taken out of the security. No subletting, assignment, parting with possession, power of attorney or partnership.
