How is the deposit worked out?

How can a bidder or tenant lose money here?
Withdraw a bid once placed and the whole deposit is forfeited. Miss the 15-day security deadline and the deposit is forfeited. After that, late rent carries liquidated damages of 10% of the amount in arrears, and non-payment by the due date or any breach lets the Corporation end the lease, repossess the booth and forfeit all or part of the security, with no compensation. The Corporation may instead allow late payment with a penalty inside three months.

General trade only, excluding excise vends — liquor shops and tobacco products — and only the trade it is leased for. No “obnoxious trade”. The tenant must personally carry on the business; failing that the lease is terminated. No sub-letting, transfer, sale, gift, mortgage, power of attorney, partners brought in, or parting with possession.

Rent plus GST in advance by the 10th of each month. Annual property tax, with the receipt lodged at the Estate Branch, and all general and local taxes.
